Milton Keynes Music Service

Music Service - Music Note The Milton Keynes Music Service is the Council-run service providing instrumental tuition to around 5,000 students in Milton Keynes' schools. Over 1000 of these students play and sing in Music Centre Ensemble groups on weekday evening and Saturday mornings.

SUPERVISION

PLEASE NOTE The Music Centre accepts responsibility for the supervision of a student whilst the student is participating in a Music Centre activity. At all other times the responsibility lies with the parents.


Creative Percussion

A new Ensemble

Have you ever wanted to have a go at African drumming,tuned percussion or use your drumming skills more creatively? Then this is for you!

It is held at the Music Centre at Shenley Brook End School on Saturdays at 11.15am to 12pm. Suitable for age 8+. Ist term concentrates on tuned percussion.

Music Tuition

Music Service - Clipart drums, violin and trumpetMilton Keynes Music Service provide tuition to students either through their own school or if that not possible then direct with the Music Centre, after school or on a Saturday morning. Music Service - TrumpetStudents being taught at their school by Milton Keynes Music Service staff are offered a number of ways of obtaining an instrument.

Your school may have instruments available but if not, the Milton Keynes Music Service can help.

External Exams

Practical and Theory Music Exams

Milton Keynes Music Service enters students for external exams through the 'Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music' or 'Trinity Guildhall'.

Midsummer Players

Milton Keynes Music Service Adult Orchestra

Midsummer Players is the Music Service's adult orchestra who meet on a Monday evening at the City Church.

Any aspiring musicians of the Orchestral mode who fancy giving it a go should contact the Music Centre 0845 2000096.

Music Service Youth Orchestra

The Music Service Youth Orchestra is the most advanced orchestra within the Music Service, catering for students of Grade 6 standard and above for wind and brass players, and Grade 5 and above for string players. Entry is by audition.

Music Service - Guitarist Milton Keynes Music Service has a thriving branch of Rock and Popular music.
Students attending Milton Keynes Music Service's Rock And Pop School learn to play their instruments, learn about music and to work together in a band situation.

Gospel Choir

Do you enjoy singing?
Are you young, or not so young and would like to join a choir with a varied reportoire.

The Gospel Choir rehearses at Loughton Manor First School Mondays 6.30pm - 8.00pm We are very keen to promote singing within the Music Service. New members are welcome, (All ages from 11 years upwards.) Please feel free to go along to Loughton Manor and join in the singing.

The Primary Music Team are providing Curriculum support and training in primary schools in Milton Keynes as well as arranging Inset for NQTs, Music Co-ordinators and non-specialist teachers.

Friends Of Milton Keynes Music Service

We are a friendly group of parents with children of all ages at the Music Service.

As well as fundraising for additional instruments etc, we assist by offering various services on a Saturday morning including serving refreshments.

String, Brass and Woodwind Festivals

4/5/10 March 2010 The Music Service will hold it's annual String, Brass and Woodwind Festivals in March at the City Church.
This festival concludes with a concert on the evening of 10 March at 6.30pm. Entry will be by programme on the night, £1.00 with accompanied children free of charge.

Longrigg Residential Course For Guitarists

15 -19 March 2010 Each year a group from Milton Keynes Music Service spend a week at Longrigg, a residential centre near Kendal in the Lake District.

Informal Piano Concert

Saturday 20th March 2010
We are holding an informal Piano Concert at 2pm at the Music Service at Simpson. These informal concerts give the students the opportunity to perform on the Music Services grand piano. This concert is free of charge and spectators are welcome.
