Direct Payments for Carers

Milton Keynes City Council has a scheme to increase the financial support available to unpaid carers.  MKCC will provide an annual payment of £240 for unpaid carers, further support maybe available following your Carers Conversation.

This offer is only for:  

  • carers aged 18+
  • who are caring for an adult  
  • who have had a Carers Conversation

Support for Carers 

There are several organisations working collaboratively to meet carers needs by providing robust information, advice, guidance, and support.  

Citizen’s Advice Milton Keynes Provide advice on a range of issues including benefits, finance, employment, and housing as well as some carer support groups, legal advice clinics and community drop ins. 
Chums Offer support to Young Carers and Young Adult Carers including a wide range of activities (for young carers and young adult carers from age 5 up to age 25).
Mobilise Digital Carers Service, which includes 24/7 access to information on a wide range of topics as well as daily online meet ups and carers forums. 
Age UK Support to carers of older people advice and information delivered face to face or over the phone with a carers support worker, or in support groups. 
The Alzheimer’s Society  Support for carers of people living with dementia  advice and information delivered face to face or over the phone with a carers support worker, or in support groups.  
Talkback/ Family Lives Support for carers of people with a learning disability or neurodivergence advice and information delivered face to face or over the phone with a carers support worker, or in support groups.  
Mind BLMK  Support for carers of people with mental health, addiction or dual diagnosis advice and information delivered face to face or over the phone with a carers support worker, or in support groups.

We would like to invite unpaid carers to join us at a special event, to be held online, to meet the organisations that make up our new carers service. The event gives you the chance to ask any questions and find out more about the new offer. We’d love to see you there.
