Milton Keynes Council has awarded the contract to manage the Old Wolverton site to Community Waste Ltd (CWL) in a recent ceremony that will see them oversee the Materials Recycling Faciltiy (MRF) until 2024.

Steady Council improvement under tougher new Audit Commission test

Milton Keynes Council today (Weds 9th) received official confirmation from the Audit Commission that it is definitely moving in the right direction.

The council has moved from a disappointing one star ‘poor ‘ rating last year, under the old assessment regime, to two stars under the new style Comprehensive Area Assessment, which also looks at local police, fire and health services. The official rating is now ‘adequate.”

Milton Keynes Children's Services are improving. In an official publication of Ofsted ratings for all local authority children's services in England today (Wednesday 9 December), Milton Keynes is said to be ‘performing adequately'. A move in the right direction from its rating of ‘inadequate' in 2008 and a step that has contributed to the council's improved rating in the Comprehensive Area Assessment.

B&Q Junction improvements

23rd November 2009

During 2010 the heavily congested Watling Street / Saxon Street junction, known locally as the B&Q Junction, will go through major improvements. The two mini-roundabouts will be replaced with traffic signals; this will require carriageway widening and additional filter lanes.
