Milton Keynes Council e-petitions
An e-petition is a form of petition posted onto a website. Once a petition is created, visitors to the website can add their details to the petition to 'sign it'. Creating a petition online makes it easy to collect signatures and it also makes it easier for us to respond using email.
You can now both create and sign petitions on the Milton Keynes Council website using the link below.
Petitions submitted to Milton Keynes Council must include:
(a) a clear and concise statement covering the subject of the petition.
(b) the name and postcode of every person supporting the petition.
The organiser of the petition is the person the Council will contact to explain how it will respond to the petition. If the petition does not identify a petition organiser, the Council will contact the first signatory to the petition.
If your petition contains at least 500 signatures, a senior officer from the service area concerned will be asked to give evidence at a public meeting of the council.
If your petition contains more than 1,000 signatures, it can be debated by the Full Council or the Cabinet. Under the Council’s Scheme of Petitions if the petition applies to a planning or licensing application, is a statutory requirement (for example, requesting a referendum on having an elected mayor), or is on a matter where there is already an existing right of appeal, such as Council Tax banding and non-domestic rates, other procedures apply. See the full details of the Scheme on this link:
All petitions sent to the Council will receive acknowledgment from the Council within 10 working days of receipt.
