We think that we have a story worth telling others about so we entered the European Commission e-inclusion awards - see www.e-inclusionawards.eu . The Council is now a medallist and finalist in this competition! To support delivery of our services we have formed leading edge partnerships with many organisations including the MK Voluntary sector, Microsoft, Adepteq, FREEDOM4, the UK Open University and the DC10 Plus Group.

From Virtual Cows to Digital Reality

Milton Keynes (MK) is a vibrant, youthful city, strong on innovation with a true civic pride in its many achievements.

Now what you may not know is that against a backdrop of success MK's growing minority and disadvantaged communities are confronted with increasing social challenges and related tensions. Perhaps surprisingly, MK has some of the poorest and worst deprived areas in the UK. So the MK Digital Challenge entry has a very strong focus on tackling the digital divide problem.

Most of us want digital technology to be available when and where we want it, to be affordable, to be easy to use and to have lots of uses – uses that make our lives better. To get the best result you need a good ‘marriage' between the technology and the services – and while DigitalMK does introduce some new technologies it also concentrates on innovation for services. In many respects MK's innovation is in the delivery and our delivery is now!
