Eco Warriors

The Eco Warrior scheme has been designed by the MK City Council Environment and Waste team and is available to all MK students and schools free of charge.

Each age group has age-appropriate activities to encourage them to recycle more, waste less and raise awareness of environmental issues, such as reducing single use plastics and not littering.

Choose from the following:

Mini Eco Warriors - EYFS / KS1 (ages 3 to 7)

For our younger eco warriors there are a selection of environmental challenges to choose from depending on the season. These include helping at home, colouring, creating pictures from rubbish, etc.

Visit our resources webpage to print off the supporting activity sheets for these challenges.

Eco Warriors - KS2 (ages 7 to 11)

MK City Council Environment and Waste team are pleased again to offer your school FREE Eco warrior booklets, updated for 2022/23 to help educate and enthuse your students about the environment.

The activity booklets are designed to get students thinking about how their actions make a difference, including littering, reducing single use plastics, saving energy, helping to recycle at home and school. The booklet also supports our in-school environment and waste education talks and videos. Schools can order as many booklets as they would like - for a year group, school council, eco group or even the whole school, with free delivery in 1-2 weeks.

Email wasteeducation@milton-keynes.gov.uk stating how many booklets, school name, address and contact details.

Eco Citizen - KS3 / 4 (ages 11 to 18)

Secondary school students are encouraged to identify ways in which they can make their school be more eco friendly and create initiatives that get the whole school recycling more, wasting less and find sustainable solutions.

Eco Citizen activity ideas

We do not provide a list of activities, simply a list of suggestions for this age group, to encourage problem solving, community and personal responsibility.

These ideas could also be used as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme voluntary work.
