Council Elections
Milton Keynes Council covers an area of 30,869 hectares and is made up of 23 areas called wards.
Milton Keynes has 51 Councillors. They are elected in "thirds", which means 17 Councillors are elected each year. In the fourth year there are no local elections.
Each councillor represents approxiamtely 3,000 electors. Some wards have only one councillor, some two and others have three. For this reason the one Member wards have elections only once every four years, the two Member wards have elections only two years out of four and the three member wards have elections three years out of four.
