Housing Performance

Tenants Housing Scrutiny Panel - we are setting up one. Do you think you can be a part of this panel?

Are you interested in taking a leading role in shaping and improving the services you get from your landlord, Milton Keynes Council? If so please read on.

We want to hear from any tenants, leaseholders and shared owners who really want to make a difference. We need help in setting up a Scrutiny Panel made up of our tenants.

Why a Scrutiny Panel? The new Social Housing Regulatory Framework and Localism Act wants tenants to take a leading role in looking at and challenge the quality of the services delivered, how they perform and make recommendations on how services could be improved.

We are now very keen to encourage tenants to come and join the scrutiny panel.
Are you someone who likes to do something about problems your self?
Do you enjoy what happens behind the scene?
Do you have at least five hours a week to spare?

If you have answered yes to these questions – please read the documents around outlining what the scrutiny panel is about to see if this is something you could do and if it is please complete the application form and return to the Resident Involvement Manager by 30 March 2013. You can also contact the Resident Involvement Manager if you want to ask some questions about the process by contacting 01908 253264 or
Email: get.involved@milton-keynes.gov.uk

How well are we doing - Performance of Housing Services and Local Standards
Want to know how well we are performing against key housing services and our Local Standards. We discuss our services and performance at the quarterly MK Council Tenants Group, Housing Services Forum. In addition, the Tenants Performance Scrutiny Group has a schedule of 4 meetings a year at which service areas and the Local Standards are reviewed.

Housing Annual Report
Tells you about the Housing Services improvement promises we made last year and did we achieve them. It is also sets out our plans for the coming months, so you can see what we want to do to keep making the service better. It is also used by our Regulator to review how we are performing.

Regulator for Social Housing
From 1 April 2012 the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) key regulatory powers have been transferred to the Homes and Community Agency.

The Regulatory framework for all social housing landlords in England has been revised in line with new legislative changes to the Housing sector. The new framework continues to differentiate between local authority and housing association landlords with its revised system of consumer regulation for all landlords and economic regulation for non-local authorities based on a system of further enhanced co-regulation. Click here to learn more about the new regulatory framework effective from 1 April 2012

Internal Audit Programme and Reports
The Housing service has an annual audit programme to review our services, which is carried out by the council's Internal Audit service.
