Homeless or in danger of becoming homeless?

We try to prevent homelessness by giving advice on types of accomodation which may be available, but due to the overall shortage of housing this is likely to involve living in temporary accomodation.
If you are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless, email our
Homeless Team or call
01908 253481 during office hours (9.00am to 5.15pm weekdays). At other times our "Out of hours Emergency Number" is 01908 692882.

Benefits may be available to those who are on a low income and need help with paying rent,
also the
Citizens Advice Bureau runs a

We have to comply with housing law and government guidelines when deciding if we can help and in what way. If we are able to help, due to the overall shortage of suitable housing this is likely to involve living in temporary accomodation.
The Homelessness Act 2000 placed a duty on local authorities to carry out a review of homelessness, and to formulate and publish a Homelessness Strategy. The key priorities of the Homelessness Strategy are:
- To prevent homelessness
- To secure sufficient accommodation that is and will be available to meet the needs of people in Milton Keynes who are, or may become homeless;
- This may include private rented properties as well as social housing;
- To secure the satisfactory provision of support services for people who may become homeless or who may have been homeless and need support to stop them from becoming homeless again
- To secure continuous improvements in homelessness services and develop Best Practice
