Services and short breaks for carers of adults with learning disabilities
Help for Carers
If you are a carer for someone who has been assessed as needing services then you are entitled to a Carers’ Assessment. This can be arranged through ASCAT Adult Duty Team or directly by the Learning Disability Social Work Team if the person you care for is known to the service.
Depending on what is needed, carers can access direct services or the means to purchase a variety of helpful services through a Direct Payment.

If you think a business or service treats people with learning disabilities well, you can nominate them for the Approved Award. It could be somewhere like a café, restaurant, cinema, taxi company, shop or leisure centre.
