Community Asset Transfer

Following approval at Cabinet Procurement Committee on 7th May 2013, as part of the Community Asset Transfer (CAT) programme, four large strategic sports venues will be offered to local groups to own and manage. These four venues are Oakgrove Leisure Centre, Tattenhoe Pavilion, Medbourne Pavilion, and Woughton on the Green Playing Fields and Pavilion.

Paul Sanders, Assistant Director for Community Facilities, stated:

“Cabinet Members are very keen to explore what appetite exists within Milton Keynes for local groups to run these strategic sport and leisure facilities and wish to fully embrace the localism ideology. The ownership and management arrangement of these facilities is key to future investment and sustainability of the venues and the sporting and cultural legacy that Milton Keynes wishes to create for the local population.”

Public Engagement:

MKC's Community Asset Transfer Programme allows communities to take over the day-to-day running of facilities such as leisure centres, libraries, and Milton Keynes’s open space.

With the opening of each tranche of assets, a series of information meetings are held to give people the chance to hear more about the possible transfer of these community buildings from council control - more information can be found in the table below:
