Milton Keynes is bidding for the European Capital of Culture title for 2023.

On the 15th July 2015, Milton Keynes Councillors met at a Full Council meeting and unanimously agreed to the following motion: "to initiate a process to take forward a bid for Milton Keynes to secure shortlisting to become European Capital of Culture 2023"

This decision was taken after bidding experts provided a Capital of Culture Feasibility (PDF, 500KB) for Milton Keynes. The motion to bid was presented by Councillor Liz Gifford who opened with the following speech (PDF, 194KB). More information about the process can be found in the Capital of Culture Frequently Asked Questions (PDF, 143KB) document.
