Public Safety at Events

Milton Keynes is a modern, forward looking city which boasts many well attended and well organised events occurring throughout the year, ranging from large scale, professionally managed pop concerts at the MK Bowl to volunteer lead church fetes. In each instance the event organiser will consider the potential issues and create a risk assessment to reduce these risks and ensure the public enjoy a safe event.

The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) can advise and comment to event coordinators who are planning to organise public events in Milton Keynes. As single point of reference for the Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance, and various council departments such as Environmental Health and Licensing, the SAG can prove an invaluable source of information to promote safety at public events.

If you are planning a public event you should consult the SAG Guidance Document (PDF, 294KB) and refer to the Presentation Slides (PDF, 2MB).

Then consider whether to inform the Safety Advisory Group using the SAG Notification Form, which is available in PDF or MS Word format SAG notification form (PDF) (PDF, 65KB)  or  SAG Notification Form (MS Word) (DOC, 96KB)

You can send the completed Notification Form to the SAG by email if you wish: email the Notification Form to the SAG

If considered useful, the SAG may invite the event organiser to attend a meeting, with representatives of the SAG, to discuss the event plan and recommend suitable changes.
