Interpreting and Translation
From our office in Central Milton Keynes, we offer a professional interpreting and translation service, available to all public and commercial organisations. The main areas we cover are Milton Keynes, Luton and Bedford but we can also work further afield.
Our service is fast, efficient and friendly and our motto is
"Eliminating barriers of communication in the community". We aim to help people for whom English is not their preferred language, usually through the Service Providers who provide assistance to the public.
Interpreting or Translation provides the link in situations where a language barrier is making it difficult to communicate effectively with your customers, clients, staff or local community.We have a register of 200+ bi-lingual Interpreters in over 70 languages.
Appointment Procedure
An appointment is made through our office for an Interpreter, selected from our database, to travel to an agreed location for a face-to-face or telephone interview. The more notice we are given, the greater the chance of fulfilling the booking. Regular users are:
- hospitals, doctors, dentist
- solicitors, police
- local authorities – housing, benefits, social care, children’s services
- private companies
- Courts
A reminder text message is sent to our interpreters each morning.
Translation
These are carried out through our office in Central Milton Keynes, using our database of 100’s of translators.
We can translate any size of document:
- CV’s, certificates
- leaflets, brochures
- letters, reports
We can also advise on the best languages or dialects to use for translation of a public document.
Costs
- Translations are charged by number of words, minimum cost approx £43 for first 100 words and £10 for every 100 thereafter, excluding VAT
- Interpreting for medical/public organisations costs £37.70 per hour plus travel expenses (£0.40 per mile and when applicable £8 per hour travel time) + VAT
- Interpreting for commercial users costs £44.70 per hour plus travel expenses + VAT
- Higher charges (+25%) apply for weekends and bank holidays
- These charges are a guide only and subject to change in exceptional circumstances.
Opening Hours
Our office is open 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Outside these hours, a message can be left on our answer phone, and will be picked up at on the next working day.
Our Interpreters however can be pre-booked for appointments at any hour of any day, subject to their availability.
We would be grateful for as much notice as possible when you are making an Interpreter call-out appointment. However, we are able to respond at short notice when necessary.
Quality & Security
All of our Interpreters:
- are tested and trained
- are CRB security checked
- abide by our strict Code of Conduct
- abide by our Confidentiality Agreement
- are experienced at working in challenging situations
When you make a booking we will ask for a brief description of the nature of the interview in order to select the most appropriate Interpreter. Our staff are experienced in dealing in confidential circumstances.
If you have not used an Interpreter before, we can provide you with written guidelines on how to ensure the interview runs smoothly.
