As Milton Keynes grows, there will be increasing pressure for new development and redevelopment, to deliver a high quality vibrant centre. In recognition of this future role, Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes Partnership have produced the Central-CMK Framework Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)
Central-CMK Framework SPD Final_(3659K) to offer guidance for the design, assessment and delivery of future projects within Central-CMK. The council's Cabinet resolved to adopt the SPD on 26 September 2006.
This planning document builds upon CMK policies contained within the recently adopted MK Local Plan and in the CMK Development Framework adopted January 2002, which set out the aims, aspirations, parameters and proposals for the future development of the city centre over the next twenty to thirty years.
The Central CMK Framework covers the area between Saxon Gate, Campbell Park, Portway and Childs Way and is the focus for retail, cultural, entertainment and city governance. The SPD is structured to present strategic guidance for the whole area with more detailed area design guidance for some principal opportunity areas.
