Milton Keynes Council Car Share has arrived!
Monday 1st August 2011 saw the re-launch of the UK’s most successful car sharing scheme, Milton Keynes Council Car Share, a parking permit suitable for employees of Central Milton Keynes who choose to share a vehicle for their journey to work.
The aim is to reduce Milton Keynes’ carbon footprint by rewarding staff who recognise the benefits of using just one car for their daily commute. Not only do you benefit from reduced fuel bills, less wear and tear on your vehicle and company on the journey to work, but you will also gain access to free parking in all standard rate spaces and over 350 reserved car share bays in prime locations, all for just a £30 annual membership fee per person.
A lead applicant must be nominated to submit one application form and £30 payments on behalf of each member. After eligibility checks have been completed, all correspondence, including the parking permit transferrable between all approved vehicle registration marks, will be sent to the lead applicant. It is the keeper’s responsibility to ensure this permit is visibly displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle that is parking for free on any given day.
Each month, car sharers across Milton Keynes save over a whole tanker load of fuel. In monetary terms, this equates to approximately £24,000 each and every month!
