Rock And Pop School

Music Service - GuitarMilton Keynes Music Service has a thriving branch of Rock and Popular music. This is led by Andy, who with his team of talented teachers has devised a programme to develop the skills needed for this exciting musical style. Complete beginners have a few weeks of lessons and after that there are opportunities to learn songs and play with others every week of the term.

Students attending Milton Keynes Music Service's Rock And Pop School learn to play their instruments, learn about music and to work together in a band situation. The subject of rock and pop music is taken very seriously by our instructors. We work to instil high technical and musical standards in our students and they are exposed to a wide variety of styles in their lessons.

Every term we choose new tunes for the students to learn and along side learning the tunes we introduce musical concepts and theory so that a serious student who has spent sufficient time with us would be well prepared to form and successfully run a band of his or her own. Even students who choose to study classical or jazz music would benefit from many aspects of our course. We focus on understanding song forms, differentiating styles, ensemble skills and students are encouraged to learn music by listening and emulating rather than reading.

We accept students as young as 11 years and as old as 19. We currently have three levels, beginners, intermediate and advanced. All classes are held at Stantonbury Campus.

The beginner's class is for those who need some tuition on either bass, voice, guitar or drums before feeling confident enough to join the main Rock and Pop School.

Classes for Intermediate are held on Monday evening from 6.00 pm until 8.00 pm during term time.

The Advanced class is held on a Wednesday evening from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.

Three Days of Rock Holiday Courses are held twice a year at the Music Service at Simpson. Once in the Spring Term and again in the Autumn term.

Approximately 60 musicians attend these courses, either enrolling as a band already or forming into a band during the course. The 3 days then culminate with a fantastic concert for parents and friends.

If you are interested in any of the classes, please telephone Milton Keynes Music Service on 0845 2000096 for further details.
