New Awards for Caldecotte Xperience

The Caldecotte Xperience is pleased to publicise their new awards for safety, quality and value for money.

The centre now holds: a LOTC Quality Badge, Adventuremark accreditation and an AALA license as well as being an approved Centre for the RYA (Royal Yachting Association), BCU (British Canoe Union) NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme) and affiliated centre for British Rowing.

Milton Keynes Council requires all staff to be trained and accredited if they wish to gain Council approval to lead off-site educational visits. The value of educational visits is well documented and the impact on children's education is immense, therefore it is important that staffs are trained to gain maximum benefit and welfare for both their pupils and themselves.

Our next EVC Training Days will be:

The Outdoor Learning Card Course offers teachers and youth workers the opportunity to promote the benifits that outdoor education brings through easy to access activities, that you can carry out at school or in a nearby park, to help you utilise your low climbing wall and other outdoor equipment and help your children enjoy learning and make progress through integrated activities across the whole curriculum.

Milton Keynes Outdoor Education Service comprises of The Caldecotte Xperience at Simpson, Milton Keynes and the Longrigg Residential Centre situated in the beautiful countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
The Centres offer very different services and yet are very complementary to one another. Both Centres are committed to giving young people positive experiences that will last a lifetime. The Centres are steadfast to high quality outdoor education & adventure and the Governments manifesto "Learning Outside the Classroom".

The Caldecotte Xperience offers a variety of exciting adventure activities and learning experiences for young people and adults, from 8 to 80.

Activities include: sailing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, rowing, climbing, high ropes, caving, archery, fencing, bushcraft and many exciting team building activities.

We also offer the D of E Award, camping, bunk room accommodation, room hire and training facilities. Our team of permanent professional staff are very experienced and highly qualified in all their activities.

Caldecotte runs a wide variety of fun, educational development programmes and clubs to suit you.

Longrigg Residential Centre provides residential opportunities for young people from Milton Keynes. It also offers developmental training courses for companies from within Milton Keynes or outside.

Hey its Autumn, so lets Monkey (Climb) around
Our experienced instructors will help and guide you as you learn to climb or improve your climbing skills this Autumn at the Caldecotte Xperience Climbing Club.

There will be instruction in: Climbing, abseiling, high ropes - working towards a trip to the Peak District in the October half term to broaden and test your skills.

Come and join our climbing sessions they are fantastic fun. Climbing Club

Learning to sail is great fun and exciting learn to sail and advance through the RYA's youth training scheme. Join in the beginners sessions if you are new to sailing, or if you can sail already join our fantastic Saturday morning Pirate Club. Milton Keynes Junior Rowing Club is an up and coming group of 10 - 24 year olds who are looking for the fun and excitement of competitive sport at all levels. Sessions are held the water at Caldecotte North Lake.


Spring Block 6 runs from Monday January 16th until Sunday February 12th 2012

Session fees £5 per week not including annual membership.
Regatta and head race entry fees are separate.

NEW THIS Autumn Outboard Engine Maintenance Course
The Caldecotte Xperience are running an outboard maintenance course. The course gives valuable insight into the workings of both 2 stroke and 4 stroke outboard engines.

The main content of the course includes the following:
• Fault areas are discussed together with remedies, hints and tips.
• Simple testing and fault finding procedures are demonstrated and explained.
• An engine is serviced giving hands on experience to the students and giving them confidence to carry out those regular service activities that keep and outboard engine running smoothly for years.
