On 24th April 2009, Community Liaison held our first national conference at Stadiun MK launching the MKOB project looking at the two tier working relationship between Milton Keynes Council and the Town and Parish Councils of Milton Keynes.
With 45 parish and town councils representing our Urban and Rural areas and a Unitary Authority since 1997, the expertise and deep partnership working developed here was the basis of a learning project funded by Milton Keynes, Oxford and Bucks Partnership.
Consultants from the IDeA have worked with Members and Officers from both tiers and established what works well, what needs improving and where should we go from here to ensure that Governance in Milton Keynes is effective and fit for the emerging agenda of Empowered People and Communities in Control.
