Parking Standards

Parking Standards SPD, adopted January 2016 

The Parking Standards SPD shows how many parking spaces are needed for all types of development and includes guidance as to the design and layout of parking spaces, especially in residential areas. It also includes standards for cycle parking and for electric vehicles. The SPD is relevant to anyone considering making a planning application for new development or for the change of use of a building. 

The new Parking Standards SPD was adopted by MK City Council on 11 January, 2016 and replaces the old standards dating from 2005 and 2009. The SPD, together with the Adoption Statement, and other supporting documents, can be viewed by following the links. 

In addition to the Consultation Statement, a summary of the comments received on the draft SPD, together with the resulting changes to the document appears in the Annex to the Cabinet report of 11 January, 2016 and can be viewed below. 

 

Draft Parking Standards SPD, August 2015 

The Consultation Draft Parking Standards SPD proposes new and updated parking standards for all types of new development across the Milton Keynes Council area. Once adopted, the new Standards will replace the current ones referred to below which date from 2005 and 2009.
