Citizenship Ceremonies
Every adult applying for citizenship is required to attend a citizenship ceremony as the final step to becoming a British Citizen.
During the ceremony participants are required to swear an oath or affirm allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen and make a pledge of loyalty to the United Kingdom after which they are awarded with a Certificate of Naturalisation.
Citizenship Ceremonies
Once your application has been successful, the Home Office will confirm this to you in writing and at the same time forward your paperwork to your local Register Office.
Although the Home Office letter does request that you contact your local Register Office to make an appointment for your ceremony this is not necessary. Here at Milton Keynes we will contact you in writing within 3-4 days to offer you an appointment at the next available ceremony.
Group ceremonies are mainly held at:
The Civic Offices, 1 Saxon Gate East,
Central Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ.
When we write to you about your Citizenship ceremony we need you to complete a
Citizenship ceremony questionnaire.
Or private ceremonies can be specially arranged for you by calling 01908 372101 press option 5. Refer to our
table of fees for costs.
