The Parent Partnership service offers independent information, advice, guidance and support to the parents/carers of a child with an identified special educational need, or where there is a concern that there may be a special educational need.
The families of children from pre-school through to 19 years of age are supported, at all stages of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
Referrals are taken directly from parents/carers. All information shared with Parent Partnership is treated as confidential, and is only shared with others at the request of the parent/carer.

The aim of the service is to empower parents/carers to become partners in their child's education, by enabling them to gain the confidence to voice their opinions, and to take responsibility for making informed decisions about their child's education.
Schools, the LA and all other agencies are encouraged to pass on to parents/carers who are in need of information or support, details of the service.
Milton Keynes Parent Partnership offers a wide range of services to parents and carers:
- information, advice and support over the telephone
- written information and leaflets on all aspects of special educational needs

- the allocation of a trained volunteer Independent Parental Supporter, if requested

- supporting parents/carers in meetings with schools or the LA
- liaison with professionals to help parents/carers understand their child's special educational needs
