ASC Learning and Development Programme - Food Safety, Nutrition and Hydration

Course Objectives: To help participants understand the risks associated with handling food, importance of good nutrition and hydration in maintaining well-being. This course meets CQC requirements for care staff.

Target Participants: Staff not working in a kitchen environment but are expected to handle food. Suitable for domiciliary care, support workers, residential and nursing home staff.

Learning Outcomes:

- An understanding of food safety, including hygiene, in the preparation and handling of food

- Understanding the importance of good nutrition and hydration

- Awareness of the types of contamination

- Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of poor nutrition and hydration

- Awareness of ways to promote adequate nutrition and hydration
