Does your pedal need Power?

Cycling in Milton Keynes is fun. So why don’t more people cycle? Is it that they would find the exercise exhausting? There are solutions available in Fenny Stratford. Take a conventional bike, add a small electric motor, and cycling becomes a dream. In MK cycling comes into its own. With miles and miles of scenic redways, what better way to see our city.

So having heard how wonderful Powabykes are, I decided to give one a try. I was a little apprehensive but I need not have been. It was easy and speedy too. Above all the bike ride was fun and enjoyable – that, in my mind, is of particular importance.

Having enjoyed the experience I decided to undertake a little research, unnecessary - already done.

Leeds University, supported by Powabyke, recently undertook some research centred on 600 Powabyke customers. What Powerbyke wanted to know was how their customers differed from owners of conventional bikes. The findings make interesting reading. 91% use their Powabyke every week. Nationally the average distance covered by a Powabyker is 1,263 miles per annum, compared with an average of 120 miles for conventional bike users. Put another way Powabykers cycle 10 times the distance of conventional bikers. Conclusion Biking is easier and/or more fun using a Powabyke.

Another surprising finding was what Powabykers used their bikes for. No wisecracks please! 85% of the mileage covered was not leisure related, as is the norm for conventional bikes. Powabykes are used for transport purposes, commuting, shopping etc. In other words Powabykes are practical. Practical and fun is surely a winning combination.
