Mental health partnership for local veterans

Veterans in Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes (BLMK) that are struggling with their mental health are being reminded they can use their local dedicated service to seek help.  BLMK is working in partnership with Op COURAGE: The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PDF, 193KB) to support local veterans in the area.  Contact your local Op COURAGE team by calling 0300 323 0137 or by email.

South East Leadership Challenge Day Event

Four Milton Keynes Council colleagues represented MKC and their commitment to the Armed Forces community by taking part in the South East Leadership Challenge Day Event, part of the Employer Defence Recognition Scheme.

They were split into different groups and completed tasks that were representative of army tasks such as:

  • medical evacuation with the medics
  • creating a winch to pull a Land Rover uphill with the engineers
  • memory with intelligence and problem solving with the police
  • life suits with the logistical corps
  • paintballing with the infantry
  • identifying vehicles with the auxiliary

It was a full and enjoyable day and a perfect opportunity to meet other employers who are also part of the Employers Recognition Scheme. It also gave some insight into the variety of skills needed and tasks undertaken by Armed Forces personnel.
