Help getting online


Need to claim Universal Credit and haven’t got access to the internet? Then find out where you can get internet access nearest to you.

You can also attend your local Job Centre to make a claim. Find out where your local office is.

Most libraries allow some free Internet access (they may not be able to support you with the claim form).

The Council has free to use computers in our customer service area with support completing the application should you need it.

If you are not confident using the internet, the Neighbourhood Employment Programmes local Job Clubs, can provide free training and support in gaining IT skills.  They have support sessions in different locations across Milton Keynes, at different times throughout the week. These are free to access and you can attend whichever suits you. 

The Citizens Advice "Help to Claim" service can support you in the early stages of your Universal Credit claim, from the application, through to your first payment. People who cannot apply online you should call the Universal Credit helpline as you may be able to apply by phone or in person instead. 

The application can take up to 40 minutes on the phone. You will need to tell the DWP why you can’t apply online, for example if you have problems reading or writing.  Contact the Universal Credit helpline.
