Information for childcare providers and prospective providers

Milton Keynes council has a duty to secure early education to support eligible two year olds (Time for Twos) and all three and four year olds. The offer entitles children to receive up to 15 hours per week of free high quality education and childcare to a maximum of 570 hours per academic year (38 weeks).

The Setting Place Planning Framework 2014 (PDF, 8.3MB) sets out the context and policy for early years and childcare provision in Milton Keynes. It details where places are available and where additional places need to be secured. If you are considering setting up childcare provision in the area it is recommended that you review this.

To assist further in the creation of childcare places Milton Keynes council has published Information for prospective landlords of childcare providers (PDF, 116KB) to encourage prospective landlords to facilitate the letting of premises to high quality childcare providers.

Any provider wishing to offer funded early education and childcare for eligible children will need to sign up to the Provider Guidance (PDF, 400KB).
