Summary

Milton Keynes Council is formally consulting on a proposed zebra crossing and alterations to the existing ‘no waiting at any time restrictions on Countess Way in Broughton.

1.Notice of Proposal – Zebra Crossing (Ref: NOT-036):

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MILTON KEYNES (ZEBRA PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ON COUNTESS WAY, BROUGHTON) 2020

2.Notice of Proposal - Alterations to the existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions (Ref: TRO-303):

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MILTON KEYNES (THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MILTON KEYNES) (COUNTESS WAY, BROUGHTON) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2018) VARIATION ORDER 2020

The proposed zebra crossing comes as a result of safety concerns raised by residents and councillors over the informal crossing facility at this location.  The zebra crossing will formalise the crossing point and make it safer for pedestrians to cross the road.

The zebra crossing will encourage and facilitate safer pedestrian movements on Countess Way.

The proposed alterations to the existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions will be made through a traffic regulation Order and will accommodate the proposed zebra crossing.

The Council considers it expedient to introduce the zebra crossing and alter the existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions:

  • to facilitate the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of pedestrians along the affected lengths of road;
  • for avoiding danger to persons using the road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

Copies of the proposal plan, notices of proposal, location plan, proposed Order together with a plan showing the general arrangement of the ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions and a statement of reason, are available for inspection in the Documents section on this webpage.

Any objections to the above proposals, together with the grounds upon which they are made, must be made in writing and sent to the Council’s Traffic Regulation Order Team at Milton Keynes Council, Synergy Park, Chesney Wold, Bleak Hall, Milton Keynes, MK6 1LY, or by email to TROteam@milton-keynes.gov.uk quoting reference NOT-036 (zebra crossing) or TRO-303 (no waiting at any time restrictions)

The closing date for this consultation is 5pm Thursday 8 October 2020.

Please submit your comments before the closing date otherwise your comments may not be considered.
