Statutory Consultation: Proposed Traffic Regulation Order to introduce a no entry restriction on Wolverton Road, Wolverton (TRO-308).
Milton Keynes Council is formally consulting on the following proposed traffic regulation Order:
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MILTON KEYNES (WOLVERTON ROAD, WOLVERTON) (PROHIBITION OF ENTRY) ORDER 2020
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all vehicles from entering Wolverton Road, Wolverton from its junction with Haversham Roundabout.
The no entry restriction will support the existing one-way on Wolverton Road by allowing traffic on Wolverton Road to exit onto Haversham Roundabout safely.
The traffic movement restriction is proposed under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which allows Milton Keynes Council as the Highway Authority to implement measures to ‘facilitate’ the passage on the road and to ‘avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising’.
The Council has a duty under section 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 when making TROs to consider the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic and other traffic.
The Council considers it expedient to introduce the no entry restriction:
- to facilitate the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic along Wolverton road;
- for avoiding danger to persons using that part of Wolverton road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
The Council will install traffic signs and road markings for the proposed no entry restriction in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2016.
The Council is now carrying out statutory consultation on the proposed Order.
Any representations about or objections to the proposal, together with the grounds upon which they are made, must be made in writing and sent to the Council’s Traffic Regulation Order Team at Milton Keynes Council, Synergy Park, Chesney Wold, Bleak Hall, Milton Keynes, MK6 1LY, or by email to TROteam@milton-keynes.gov.uk quoting reference TRO-305 and to be received no later than 17 December 2020.
The closing date for this consultation is 17 December 2020.
Please submit your comments before the closing date otherwise your comments may not be considered.
