Summary

Milton Keynes Council is formally consulting on the following proposed traffic regulation Order:

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MILTON KEYNES (VARIOUS ROADS, MILTON KEYNES) (ON-STREET AND OFF-STREET ELECTRIC VEHICLE PERMIT PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2020

The general effect of the Order will be to restrict parking to allow electric vehicles which display a valid electric vehicle car club permit or electric vehicle residential induction charging permit to park in the designated on-street and off-street permit parking places. The permit parking places will be operational at all times and each parking place will be marked out and clearly signed.

Milton Keynes Council was awarded a Go Ultra Low City Status, one of four UK Cities and received funding from OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) to help continue roll of charging infrastructure to help support the uptake of electric vehicles.

The proposed restrictions will only apply to the above roads and will only allow electric vehicles that have been issued with an electric vehicle car club permit or electric vehicle residential induction charging permit to park in the designated parking places.

Vehicles that are exempt from the restriction will include emergency services and statutory undertakers when on duty.

The Council will install traffic signs and road markings for the proposed no entry restriction in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2016.

The Council is now carrying out statutory consultation on the proposed Order.

Any representations about or objections to the proposal, together with the grounds upon which they are made, must be made in writing and sent to the Council’s Traffic Regulation Order Team at Milton Keynes Council, Synergy Park, Chesney Wold, Bleak Hall, Milton Keynes, MK6 1LY, or by email to TROteam@milton-keynes.gov.uk quoting reference TRO-311 and to be received no later than 17 December 2020.

Copies of the notice of proposal, proposed Order together with plans showing the general arrangements of the electric vehicle permit parking places and a statement of reason, are available for inspection on this webpage under the heading “Documents”.

The closing date for this consultation is 17 December 2020.
