Milton Keynes Council is formally consulting on the following proposed traffic regulation Order:

The Council of the Borough of Milton Keynes (Various Roads, Milton Keynes) (Bus, Taxi and Pedal Cycle Lanes) Order 2021

The general effect of the Order will be to amend the times of operation on the following reserved bus lanes from 24 hours to only be in effect from 7.30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 6.30pm of every day:

  • V6 Grafton Street (south-eastbound carriageway) between H4 Dansteed Way and H5 Portway
  • Midsummer Boulevard, CMK (both sides) between Grafton Gate and Witan Gate
  • Midsummer Boulevard, CMK (both sides) between Witan Gate and Saxon Gate
  • Midsummer Boulevard, CMK (both sides) between Secklow Gate and Marlborough Gate
  • Avebury Boulevard, CMK (south-westbound carriageway) between Secklow Gate and Saxon Gate

It has been decided to replace the original traffic regulation Orders of 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2017 with a completely new order and revoke all previous Orders.

The Council considers it expedient to make this Order to facilitate the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of vehicular traffic along the affected lengths of roads.
All signs on site will be in accordance with the current and any future version of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions.

The Council will continue to monitor the way in which highway facilities are used and address any issues that come to its notice and following meaningful consultation with all stakeholders do what it considers necessary to facilitate the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The proposed changes come as a result of the continuous improvements being made to public transport in The Borough of Milton Keynes and will ensure equality for all users, encourage modal shift to more sustainable modes of transport, maintain economic vitality and reduce carbon emissions, all in line with the aims and objectives of The Borough of Milton Keynes Transport Strategy.
