Spanish - Improvers Year Two (online)
Is this the right course for me?
You should have studied Spanish for 40 – 60 hours in the recent past but you may have maintained your level of Spanish by spending time in the country and/or with Spanish friends. You may have started your journey on the Languages Ladder and be hoping to acquire more skills to complete the Breakthrough stage.
What will I learn?
You will improve your spoken and written Spanish and by the end of the course you will be able to:
- Understand the main points and opinions in spoken passages made up of familiar material from various contexts
- Give a short prepared talk on a topic of your choice, including expressing your opinions
- Understand the main points and opinions in written texts from various contexts
- Write a short text on a range of familiar topics, using simple sentences
How will I learn?
The tutor will organise activities to practise speaking; writing, reading and listening to Spanish. You will sometimes work in pairs or in small groups with your fellow students or watch a DVD/listen to a CD. You may also learn via PowerPoint and the Internet. The emphasis will be on speaking and understanding so expect the main language of the class to be Spanish!
Will I gain a qualification?
You will have the opportunity to climb the Languages Ladder by receiving a Grade Certificate in one or more skills (speaking, listening, reading or writing) and/or an end of stage certificate to show that you have completed Breakthrough, the first stage of the Languages Ladder. After discussion with your tutor, you may decide to progress to the next stage, Preliminary. The scheme is optional but many learners decide to take this route. Your tutor will give you more information.
What can I do next?
You will be able to continue your studies next term at a higher level.
What do I need to bring to the classes?
You just need a computer (desktop or laptop) or a mobile device (e.g. a tablet or a mobile phone) as well as Internet access.
