Dressmaking - Improvers (FULL)

Is this the right course for me?

This course is for those who have completed the beginners dressmaking course or those confident in basic dressmaking skills.

What will I learn?

You will learn a variety of next stage techniques including how to attach pockets, collars and how to make and fit trousers.

How will I learn?

Sessions are taught with a mixture of demonstrations, construction of samples, tip sheet hand-outs and one to one instruction during construction of a commercial pattern of your choice.

Will I gain a qualification?

You will not gain a formal qualification; however, you may request a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.

What can I do next?

Learners can move on to an intermediate dressmaking course or a future pattern cutting course.

What do I need to bring to the class?

  • A basic sewing kit
  • a sewing machine - we have machines you can use if you would prefer or do not have your own
  • 1m of plain fabric for samples

After discussion with the tutor, a commercial pattern and fabric for a garment of your choice.

Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it?

It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the CLMK staff cannot answer your query.
