Emergency Planning in Milton Keynes
The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 defines Local Authorities as Category 1 Responders and, as such, they are required to fulfil the duties set out in the Act. These duties include:
- Risk Assessment
- Emergency Preparedness
- Warning and Informing
- Co-operation
- Information Sharing
- Business Continuity
The Business Continuity aspects of the Act are dealt with by our Business Continuity Team.
The Emergency Planning Team work to ensure that plans are in place to mitigate the effects of a major incident affecting Milton Keynes and also work to ensure that longer term recovery arrangements are robust.
Multi-Agency Emergency Planning
During the response to a major incident, all the responders need to work well together to ensure there is quick, effective action.
The Milton Keynes Resilience Group meets on a regular basis to share local information, plans, current risks etc.
The Milton Keynes Resilience Group links in to the Thames Valley Local Resilience Forum.
