Preparation before Heavy Snow and Icy Roads/ Extreme Cold - Advice for motorists

Driving in extreme wintry conditions is fraught with inherent risk, so it should always be avoided, but if you have to venture out there are a few things you can do to stay as safe as possible. A wide range of safety advice is available from the AA, RAC, Green Flag, BBC and other internet sites, whilst the Highway Code website contains the rules for driving in adverse weather conditions, including wet weather, icy and snowy weather, windy weather, fog and hot weather.
