New Drivers

If you want to be a driver of a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle licensed by Milton Keynes Council you will need to apply for a combined driver licence. Please download and read the following information carefully before you make your application.

Firstly read the guide for new taxi drivers and the Taxi Licensing Policy.  If you believe that you will be able to meet the criteria for a combined private hire and hackney carriage driver’s licence, please proceed with your application.

Please note, all applicants must submit a full application. You will be unable to continue with your application if you do have all the relevant documentation.

Safeguarding

In 2018 the Council made it a compulsory requirement that all licensed drivers complete Safeguarding and Child Sexual Exploitation Training.

The Council believes that this training is necessary in order to protect vulnerable children from abuse.  You will be given advice on how to spot the signs of abuse/exploitation and how to report your concerns.

You can complete the safeguarding training online at a cost £18 with our partner Barnardo’s. You will need to register for an account in order to complete this online course. If you are a new applicant, not currently licenced with Milton Keynes please type the word NEW when asked for your badge number.
