Better Housing Better Health

The National Energy Foundation can provide energy efficiency advice to help make your home more comfortable

Better Housing, Better Health (BHBH) is a project focussing on reducing fuel poverty and its aim is to reduce the negative impacts of living in cold and damp housing.  We want to improve the health and wellbeing for anyone struggling with high energy bills or cold homes, whilst living with difficult circumstances such as long term health conditions or low income.

Cold homes cost the NHS in England £1.36 billion every year in hospital and primary care, and are particularly associated with respiratory problems and heart-attacks.  Through BHBH, we aim to prevent ill health and reduce pressure on NHS services by making homes warmer and healthier places to live through practical energy efficiency improvements and advice.

The BHBH helpline is free to call and we can help eligible residents access funding towards energy efficiency measures, as well as referring people into support services and organisations.

Anyone can make a referral through our website - or you can call and speak to one of our advisors on the free helpline – 0800 107 0044.
