Milton Keynes Council ensures there is a range of support, whether your aim is to stop drinking or using drugs altogether, or just to cut down.

What local services are available?

 

Addiction Recovery Community (ARC) Milton Keynes 

ARC Milton Keynes is for adults living in, or who have a GP in, Milton Keynes who are at any stage of difficulties with drug, alcohol or gambling addictions. The service includes:

  • Physical health checks, advice and information on reducing harm
  • Access to specialist detoxification and rehabilitation programmes
  • Specialist psychological interventions and groups
  • Pharmacological treatments to manage withdrawal cravings etc.
  • Needle exchange
  • Access to the Problem Gambling Clinic

Support, Advice, Mentoring and Advocacy Service (SAMAS)

SAMAS is run by Community Led Initiatives and works to support long term recovery for individuals through its support, advice, mentoring and advocacy service. The service helps individuals to identify their strengths and creates a mentorship cycle which allows the people who benefit from the service to lead in its development and day to day running.

Drug & Alcohol Family Support (DAFS)

DAFS is a support group for families affected by drugs and alcohol run by the parents and partners of people with addiction issues. It offers:

  • A secure, closed Facebook group D.A.F.S - Drugs and Alcohol Family Support - Milton Keynes
  • A weekly meeting where anyone can receive confidential and non-judgemental advice. The group meets on Tuesdays 7:30-9pm, at Newport Pagnell and Willen Medical Centres, Queens Avenue, Newport Pagnell, MK16 8QT. (Please note attendance is by prior arrangement).
