The famous iron bridge in Newport Pagnell dates back to 1810 and is Grade I Listed Ancient Monument which means that any works however minor, by law must be pre-approved by Historic England and the government and carried out by specialists.

We carried out some general maintenance to the structure of the bridge including repainting the entire bridge. You can find out more information by clicking on the links below:

Whirly Pit Roundabout, Olney

Started August 2022

Completed September 2022

Aim: to improve road safety in response to safety concerns about visibility and pedestrian crossing points. This included replacing the existing planting on the roundabout with sedum matting to improve visibility for drivers on the approach to the roundabout.

Newton Road, Bletchley

Started/completed August 2022

Aim: to improve road safety by installing traffic calming (speed humps). Following concerns raised by local residents, we carried out a traffic assessment and a public consultation. The traffic calming scheme is now completed. We will monitor the impact of the scheme over the next few months too.

Tongwell Lane, Newport Pagnell

Started March 2021

Completed August 2021

Aim: to improve the footway to bring it up to redway standard and create a link between Newport Pagnell and the nearby estates to CMK. This scheme was funded by the Active Travel Fund.

Brinklow Roundabout, Kingston

Started and completed May 2021

Aim: to improve road safety at this location as the exceptionally cold, wet winter of 20/21 caused existing defects (potholes) to worsen significantly. All the existing road surface was removed and cabling was installed for future use at this location (if needed).

After the cabling was completed, the roundabout and the approaches were resurfaced with a new layer of asphalt, the linings were repainted and any street lights were repaired. As this is a busy roundabout carrying up to 30,000 vehicles per day, extra highways crews were diverted from other projects. This halved the time it would normally take for a scheme of this scale.
