Highways Licences and Application Forms

The Traffic and Highway Network team are based at Bleak Hall and are responsible for issuing licences for appropriate work on the highway to take place.  See below the list of licences that can be applied for.

  • Scaffolding
    Scaffolding that is on the highway (road, footway or verges) needs licensing under the Highways Act 1980. 10 working days notice is required.
  • Hoardings
    Hoardings, (usually made up of a close boarded fence, sometimes with advertisements on) that are on the highway need a licence.
    Temporary Access
  • When contractors/builders need to construct a temporary access to a site from a public highway, an application form needs to be completed, and a licence can be issued normally within 7 days. If you wish to have a temporary access please contact the Street Works team streetworkscoordination@milton-keynes.gov.uk  for further information regarding charges. Temporary Development Access Licence
  • Temporary Traffic Lights
    For road works carried out by Utilities or private companies

  • Road Openings
    As well as the Private Road Opening Licence form, a Road Space Booking / Notice of Works form must accompany the application both at the advance notification stage, works in progress stage and works stop or closed stage.
