V4 Watling Street - Pedestrian Crossings
The Western Expansion Area (WEA) is the land situated between Crownhill, Calverton and the Wealds and Stony Stratford.
Once completed it will include 6,550 new homes, employment, green spaces and parks, retail and leisure units and schools. We're installing safe, crossing points now so that new and future residents can move between here and the rest of MK.
Read our latest FAQs (PDF, 197KB) for more information about what we are doing during the pandemic to stay safe, what works will be taking place next and when.
We expect the V4 Watling Street to reopen to traffic again by September 2020.
Work already completed on the crossing points:
- Junction 3 and Calverton Lane Diversion (PDF, 2.2MB) – Removal of existing roundabouts and construction of 1 new roundabout including permanent diversion of Calverton Lane. Sewer diversions, new street lights, updated direction signs, carriageway resurfacing and new 40mph speed limit.
- Junction 26 Signalised Junction (PDF, 2.2MB) – Construction of new access into Whitehouse opposite The High Street. Installation of 4 way traffic signals and redway crossing points. Sewer diversions, new street lights, relocation of bus stops, updated direction signs, carriageway resurfacing and new 40mph speed limit.
- V4 Underpass between Whitehouse (WEA) and Two Mile Ash - construction began in June 2019. We've combined the work with utility companies so they can install their infrastructure at the same time. There are a high number of utility cables and pipes in this location so the planning was complex. To see how the scale of the site see our drone footage on YouTube
The map below shows the areas where the works are taking place close to Stony Stratford, Two Mile Ash and Kiln Farm estates.
