V4 Pedestrian Crossings
The Western Expansion Area (WEA) is situated between Crownhill and Stony Stratford.
Once completed it will include 6,550 new homes, employment land, green open spaces and parks, a main street with retail and leisure units and schools.
Occupation of homes in the Western Expansion Area (Whitehouse and Fairfields) began late in 2015 and is now increasing rapidly. However there were no safe pedestrian crossing facilities across the grid roads. A toucan crossing is now in operation between Fairfields and Fullers Slade. The pedestrian crossing schemes are part of the urgent work to provide safe pedestrian and cyclists crossings in the Western Expansion Area.
Junction 24 (Randall Avenue), H4 Dansteed Way, between Whitehouse and Crownhill
This includes the construction of a roundabout and toucan crossing and will bring back the bus stop on the Whitehouse side of the road.
We commenced construction of the roundabout on Monday 18 February 2019. The current construction programme runs until 17th May 2019 (12 weeks).
The works will require a full road closure but the access to the crematorium and Hendrix Drive, Crownhill will remain open.
The diversion route is via V3 Fulmer Street, H5 Portway and V4 Watling Street (PDF, 773KB). Advanced warning signs will go on site the week of 28 January 2019.We will do everything possible to limit the time of full closure required, and construct the works as quickly as possible to minimise disruption in the area.
