Enjoy our city’s large collection of public sculptures, one of the biggest in the UK, with striking works by acclaimed artists all around the city. 

Explore our surprising history. Tour Bletchley Park, now a museum attracting  visitors from all over the world, and discover the secret headquarters of the ingenious war-time code-breakers. Trace the intriguing history of our region from 1800 to the present day at Milton Keynes Museum.

Our theatre and events get top billing too. Take in a show featuring West End stars at famous MK Theatre. Visit The Bowl, our stunning 65,000 seat venue, which plays host to superstars like David Bowie, Robbie Williams, Take That  and Bon Jovi.


Wide open spaces


If it’s fresh air you’re after, you’re never far away from wide open spaces. We have more than 4,500 acres of parkland, woodland, lakes and rivers.

Campbell Park is our green oasis right in the heart of the city and nearby Willen Lake is our beautiful outdoor playground with more than 180 acres of lakes and parkland. You can walk, cycle, sail, windsurf, dragon-boat race or just watch the world go by in the tranquil surroundings of the Peace Pagoda. The choice is yours.

  • We're home to Bletchley Park, the historic site of secret Enigma code-breaking activities during the Second World War where Alan Turing designed the modern computer
  • We were the first place in the UK to introduce kerbside recycling and built the country’s first solar powered house and we led on the introduction of electric car charging points.
  • The city continues to innovate through the MK:Smart big data project in partnership with the Open University
  • The city has great ambitions for sustainable living and working. In 2013 it was chosen as the home of government’s £150m transport catapult – a national hub for transport modelling and monitoring, and as the pilot area for driverless automotive ‘pods’, with 20 to be operational by 2015. 
  • A group led by Arup and Mitsui Europe are pioneering wireless charging on our new electric buses. And University College Milton Keynes is home to many more innovative projects with facilities such as the Smart Cities Institute and the Centre for Telehealth.
