Pedalling Culture is a partnership project aiming to increase cultural tourism in Milton Keynes by putting culture at the heart of its green transport infrastructure. It is one of Arts Council England’s Cultural Destination projects and has received funding from them to support the delivery of the project outcomes. The project will see the city’s cultural venues and spaces better connecting to Milton Keynes’ 280 miles of cycling and walking routes. It will ensure that both the local community and those visiting the city will have better access to Milton Keynes’ cultural offer, whilst also promoting green and health agendas.
The project will see new e-charge points installed in cultural spaces, artist designed vinyl-wrap commissions for e-cars within the lease fleet at the Electric Vehicle Experience Centre (EVEC) and a commitment to embed cultural way-finding into the innovative and new Driverless Pod programme being launched in Milton Keynes in 2018.
2018 will see a creative programme of locally influenced and informed culturally relevant cycle and walking based events. These events will range from small and localised to large and city wide, ensuring audience engagement at cultural sites and across the dedicated cycle paths.
