European City of Sport 2020
Are you making a '20 in 20' pledge?
We’re proud that Milton Keynes has been named European City of Sport for 2020 by ACES Europe, the federation dedicated to sport and health for all. Click here to see the bid document in full.
Sports and leisure partners from across MK are putting on special events and activities throughout 2020, and our big challenge for the year is ’20 in 20’.
We’re asking everyone – individuals young and old, families, schools, businesses, clubs and organisations - to make a 20 in 20 pledge to be more active or to make it easier for others to be active.
What will your personal 20 in 20 pledge be? Maybe it’s to do 20 minutes of exercise three times each week. Maybe it’s to swim 20 lengths, take part in 20 park runs, or walk around 20 places that you’ve always wanted to visit. You might want to find a new sport as part of your pledge, or volunteer to help at a local club.
There’s no right or wrong idea and it’s all about your own fitness ability and interests. Once you’ve decided to pledge, please tell everyone about it! If you’re on social media, please use and follow #MK20in20 for inspiration.
#MK20in20 'at home'
Olympic silver medallist and MK resident Gail Emms helped launch our new campaign to encourage people to be physically active at home as part of Milton Keynes’ year as European City of Sport.
Now that most of our time is being spent at home because of the coronavirus outbreak, the #MK20in20 ‘at home’ campaign has been launched to encourage people to still be physically active, and share easy and innovative ways to incorporate activity into everyday routines. Some simple ideas include walking up and down the stairs, indoor Pilates, weight training with everyday items, or short sprint routines in garden.
Whatever you're doing, make sure you share it on social media and tag Active MK on Facebook using the #MK20in20 tag.
