Major Projects
The Leisure and Community Team has a programme in place to deliver four new community facilities over the next five years. These new facilities will be located in the growth areas of Milton Keynes and will be funded by developer contributions called ‘Tariff’.
At the beginning of the programme, the Council appointed UK Active Research Institute to find out what considerations should be made when designing new community facilities for Milton Keynes. The research focused around the creation of new spaces that enable people to lead physically and socially active lifestyles. It also focused on building facilities that are functional for user groups and sustainable for a range of different operators.
