Stories, rhymes and children's hours

Children's hours, stories, songs and rhyme times are held at various libraries throughout the week.

Parents should remain in the library while their children are at any of the sessions.

 Online story times

We have a collection of online stories, songs, poems and signed stories on our YouTube Channel. In order to comply with publisher permissions, some recordings are 'unlisted' and can't be found with a general search so be sure to browse our unlisted stories playlist.

Story times at your libraries

We are excited to announce that in-library story times have returned. All sessions are free and there's no need book.

These sessions are held every week during Term Time.

TUESDAY

  • 10-10.30am - Central Library - baby songs and rhymes for under 2s
  • 10.45-11.15am - Central Library - stories and songs
  • 11.15-11.45am - Woburn Sands Library - stories and songs (volunteer led)

THURSDAY

  • 10-10.30am - Bletchley Library - stories and songs
  • 10-10.30am - Kingston Library - stories and songs

FRIDAY

  • 10-10.30am - Westcroft Library - stories and songs
  • 10-10.30am - Newport Pagnell Library - stories and songs
  • 2-2.30pm - Wolverton Library - stories and songs

These sessions are free, however, voluntary donations are appreciated.

Olney Library

It's story time at Olney Library every last Saturday of the month 11-11.30am! Stories, songs and rhymes are brought to you by FoLiO (Friends of the Library in Olney) with a different theme each month. Group activities are aimed at children Under 7 but all are welcome.

Parents and carers must remain with their children throughout the session. The next dates are:

  • 30 October 2021
  • 27 November 2021

These sessions are free to attend but voluntary contributions are appreciated.

Children's hours

Children's hours are currently suspended. We will let you know as soon as they are due to restart.

Children's Hours offer staff led stories, songs and crafts along with educational toys to play with. The libraries are closed to the public during these sessions and are used exclusively for families attending the Children's Hour.

These sessions cost £2 per child on the door and no advance tickets are required.

Central Library

Every Tuesday morning between 10am and 11am during Term Time only.

[Please note that at Central Library, it is the Children's Library that will be closed between 9-11am for the exclusive use of those attending Children's Hour.]

Kingston Library

Every Thursday morning between 10am and 11am during Term Time only.

Bletchley Library

Every Thursday morning between 10am and 11am during Term Time only.

Westcroft Library

Every Friday morning between 10am and 11am during Term Time only.

From time to time additional children's activities may take place and will be advertised on the What's On page.
