MK College Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony 2017

There was great news as the number of individuals claiming Job Seekers Allowance fell to 1,840 (1.1%) in November.  Detailed information can be found in our monthly employment report.

The council’s Neighbourhood Employment Programme (NEP) continues to build on its incredible success in supporting Milton Keynes residents into employment.  Over the past two months,172 new clients accessed support; 73 job seekers were supported into paid work and 18 individuals were assisted to achieve an accredited qualification, ranging from professional qualifications in Childcare to certification in basic skills.    Throughout the two months, the NEP has been collaborating with businesses within the community to help raise awareness of local employment opportunities.  Asper’s Casino held a recruitment event at The Skills Centre Job Club, CMK, together with Allied Healthcare who held events at our community-based Job Clubs in Fullers Slade and on the Lakes Estate.

Over the past few months, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting with a number of businesses who are doing some fantastic work around skills, apprenticeship and workforce development.  This work is to feature in a number of case studies to be published on the InvestMK website.

We’ve also met with a number of organisations delivering, and developing, apprenticeships locally.  It’s great to see the development of degree level apprenticeships from the University of Bedfordshire and the University of Buckingham, to complement the Open University’s offer.  It was good to have a tour of the training facilities at the TXM Training Academy in Wolverton, and it was an honour to attend the Milton Keynes College Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony at the Woburn Abbey Sculpture Gallery.  A huge well done to all the graduating apprentices.
