Over the last few months, SEMLEP have worked with a number of their partners, advisory groups and businesses across the South East Midlands region to develop economic evidence to shape the SEMLEP area's Local Industrial Strategy.

Building on their evidence and analysis, they are now working on developing a set of themes and propositions that will form part of the final strategy, due to be submitted to government in March 2019. Shortly, we'll be taking these propositions back to business for their views. More on this will follow.

You can view their evidence base and details of the emerging themes on their website. If you'd like any further information or have any comments, you can email them at growingbusiness@semlep.com

Industrial Strategy

On 11th September, we had the honour of witnessing Sir Peter Gregson (Vice-Chancellor of Cranfield University) and Matt Hutnell (Director of Santander Universities UK) sign a new three-year agreement, renewing their partnership and securing further collaboration between two of our key partners. It was inspiration hearing presentations from previous beneficiaries. We wish everyone involved in the scheme, the best of luck going forwards.

The council’s Neighbourhood Employment Programme (NEP) continues to build on its incredible success in supporting Milton Keynes residents into employment.  Over the past month,63 new clients accessed support; 31 job seekers were supported into paid work and 15 individuals were assisted to achieve an accredited qualification, ranging from professional qualifications to certification in basic skills.
