As a result of ongoing work with intermediaries, commercial agents and Milton Keynes Development Partnership, we are continuing to receive a good number of Inward Investment enquiries, with 32 enquiries received across August and September.

Our current enquiry case load is 34 Category “A”  and 62 Category “B” enquiries. (Category ‘A’ covers enquiries from UKTI and foreign owned businesses; land enquiries; industrial premises over 50k sq. ft; office premises over 10k sq. ft and key business sectors.  Category ‘B’ enquiries cover all other requests for support.). For the year to date the team have received 107 enquiries.  We continue to work with the Department for International Trade, commercial agents and Milton Keynes Development Partnership and it's great to see that this partnership working is continuing to generate interest and investment in Milton Keynes despite uncertain times.

“Building a Business Voice for the Oxford to Cambridge Corridor” was the theme for the afternoon at England’s Economic Heartland event on 12th September. Senior Business leaders from across the corridor spoke about current barriers to economic growth and how they would like to see the corridor grow to overcome these and secure more business investment and growth.

Commercial Agents Bidwells and CBRE invited us to Caldecotte Lake Business Park to view newly refurbished office space. The park is home to several key employers in Milton Keynes such as Bovis homes, Rightmove and Gatehouse Bank and employees at the park can access and onsite gym, café and shuttlebus to and from Central Milton Keynes.

Karen Boys, our Programme Manager for Innovation, is working hard with the Business Generation team at Virtual Viewing and the Economy and Culture Team at MKC to produce a robust marketing plan for the MK 3D App. This will allow us to attract more businesses and attractions to the app to make it a useful tool for our City. In parallel to this, Karen is also organizing a presentation and creative workshop on the MK:3D project so we can begin to gather ideas to develop the map features and function so that it becomes “The Map” to go to, to discover Milton Keynes. The app is free to download and is compatible with Apple and Android phones.

Karen and the Head of Transport Innovation, Brian Matthews, visited the Cenex LCV event and spoke extensively with electric charging manufactures for research into MKC’s ambitions to be an exemplar in advanced low emission technology.  The seminars on CAV technology and market development were fascinating and it was encouraging to hear that while advancement is important, there is a very high priority being put on public safety.
