Updates

Return to full-time education at the start of the autumn term

All the DfE guidance for the full opening of schools, early years settings and colleges at the start of the autumn can be found here:

•          Full opening of schools from the start of the autumn term

•          Actions for early years and childcare providers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

•          Full opening of special schools and other specialist settings from the start of the autumn term

•          What parents and carers need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges in the autumn term

DfE and MKC expectations are clear: schools should be open full-time from Monday to Friday (with no rota systems in place) from the start of the new school year.  Attendance once again becomes mandatory.

Provision across Milton Keynes

Please review the most recent ‘snapshot’ of school provision in MK.

Thank you to colleagues who helped to ensure that vulnerable and other eligible pupils attended their education settings.  Attendance helps keep children and young people safe, well and engaged in learning.  This will be crucial when pupils return to school in September.

In partnership with Public Health England, the DfE has produced leaflets for education settings to reassure parents and carers about the return to school.  These resources can and should be used by social workers to help support conversations in encouraging attendance.

Barnardo’s ‘See Hear Respond’ service

See Hear Respond is a service provided across England by Barnardo’s and other national and local community-based organisations in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The programme has been created to help children and young people in England who are experiencing harm and increased adversity during this period by providing support to those who are not being seen by social care or other key agencies.

Working with its partners, Barnardo’s aims to reduce the likelihood of harm and ensure other support and protective networks are in place.

See Hear Respond accept referrals from any source either through the Freephone number 0800 151 7015 and via the online referral hub.

Required actions for suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in MK schools and settings

Public Health has recently combined the flowcharts for schools and settings to create one version for all educational settings.  This outlines the actions that you must take in the event of having a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.

•          Flowchart for all educational settings (PDF)

Please save this for future reference now and note the requirement to complete the online form.  Thank you.
